A History of The HoHoKam of Mesa

Spring training baseball fans often comment on what a well-oiled machine the Ho Ho Kam of Mesa is. We have a viable parking procedure, our ushers know the geography of the stadium and the games usually being on time. The Big Ho is a personable fellow who gives a nice welcoming speech, and the singer of The National Anthem remembers the words and sings on key. If the Cubs win, it’s wonderful. But even if they don’t, it’s another great day at the ball park.

Stadium History

The year 1996 marked the final spring training season at the original Hohokam Park as fans came from all ends of the earth to see the Cubs play in the sunshine and say good-bye to the old ballpark. Stadium Overhead View

In January 1997 a new ballpark was built on the site of the old park. The new Hohokam Park has a capacity of 12,632, the largest in the Cactus League. This means more tickets are available and even more Cubs fans have the opportunity to enjoy a game.

Seating at Hohokam stadium ranges from skyboxes, which hold groups of 10-60, to lawn seating for relaxation in the sun.

With a beautiful stadium and practice facility at Fitch Park, the future looks bright for the Cubs. Just as original HoHoKam Park was the centerpiece for Mesa baseball in the late 70's, 80's, and early 90's, the new HoHoKam Park will proudly serve the Cubs and the community for many decades to come.
